چکیده

Applications of Ultrasound in examining physical health of patient are continuously expanding over last few decades. Ultrasound imaging has assisted doctors in the diagnosis of medical health of patient in obstetrics, cardiology, gynaecology, musculoskeletal, urology and others. It has proved to be very promising and considerably advantageous over other imaging methods because of its features like non-invasive nature, use of non-ionizing radiation, portability, rapidity in performance, ease and cheap availability, real time imaging capability, high patient acceptability. Despite many advantages, it suffers from Speckle noise which results in affecting image resolution and contrast making an adverse impact on the diagnostic capability of the imaging modality. In this paper, we attempt to remove speckle noise from musculoskeletal ultrasound image for shoulder application using Anisotropic Diffusion and Non-Local Means (NLM) method. The quantitative analysis of the result is done using measurement indexes such as peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), signal to noise ratio (SNR) and root mean square error (RMSE), whereas, visual inspection is carried out for qualitative analysis. Shearlet-Based Adaptive Noise Reduction in CT Images

The noise in reconstructed slices of X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) is of unknown distribution, non-stationary, oriented and difficult to distinguish from main structural information. This requires the development of special post-processing methods based on the local statistical evaluation of the noise component. This paper presents an adaptive method of reducing noise in CT images employing th...

Anisotropic Diffusion for Medical Image Enhancement

Advances in digital imaging techniques have made possible the acquisition of large volumes of Trans-rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) prostate images so that there is considerable demand for automated segmentation of these images. Prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment rely on segmentation of TRUS prostate images. This is a challenging and difficult task due to weak prostate boundaries, speckle noise, ...

A Novel Spot-Enhancement Anisotropic Diffusion Method for the Improvement of Segmentation in Two-dimensional Gel Electrophoresis Images, Based on the Watershed Transform Algorithm

Introduction Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a powerful technique in proteomics for protein separation. In this technique, spot segmentation is an essential stage, which can be challenging due to problems such as overlapping spots, streaks, artifacts and noise. Watershed transform is one of the common methods for image segmentation. Nevertheless, in 2DGE image segmentation, the no...

روشی جدید به منظور تعیین مرز ضایعات در تصاویر فراصوت از بافت پستان: اصلاح وفقی ضریب انتشار ناهمسانگرد

Accurate segmentation plays a vital role in automated analysis of ultrasonic images. A new method based on adaptive anisotropic diffusion is introduced here for lesion detection in ultrasonic images of the breast. In this method, a hypothesis testing framework is defined first to separate lesions from healthy breast tissue. Then the boundary of lesion is estimated by adaptive anisotropic diffus...
